Provenance

Discovery: 1995 Fionnbarr Moore (2017b): 24. ‘The sharp contrast between the lower part of the stone and the slender upper portion, with its sharper angles, suggests that the stone may have been roughly dressed for the purpose of being inscribed.’ Found lying in the bed of a nearby stream when discovered, was subsequently erected adjacent to the place of discovery by the OPW (Invent vol. 1).

Letters: The first three words of the inscription are very neatly executed in fine, evenly spaced, well chiselled scores. The consonant strokes average 1cm in width, 7-8cm in length on either side of the stemline and 10-11cm where they cross it. The average length of the vowel strokes is 4-5cm and they are the same width as the consonant strokes (Moore 2017b, 26-27)
