Provenance

Discovery: A lintel stone found in the inner chamber of a souterrain (CO050-062002-), which is now inaccessible, although the stone is presumably still in position. The souterrain is located in a ringfort ‘which will be found in the second field from the road, on the right-hand side on the way from Barrahurin to Athabatten, near Donoghmore’ (Macalister 1945, 110).

Condition: Reused as a lintel in a souterrain, the inscription is in good condition with the broken A of NETTA being ”the only detriment which the inscription has suffered” (Macalister 1945, 110).

Letters: The inscription is chiselled and pocked. The scores are ‘punched on the stone, and then cut through’ (Macalister 1945, 110).
